After Democrats voted to remove Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green and Rep. Paul Gosar from House committees in 2021, Schiff and Swalwell dismissed McCartin’s charges as “political malfeasance” and vindictive.

This is some Bakersfield BS. “It’s Kevin McCarthy who has leveraged it because he sees me as an effective political opponent, just like Mr. Schiff and Ms. Omar,” he said, adding that the FBI had investigated his relationship with a Chinese spy and found nothing wrong.
McCarthy was able to unilaterally fire Schiff and Swalwell as Speaker because the House Intelligence Committee is a select committee. The House is set to vote to remove Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Some House Republicans questioned the legitimacy of McCarthy’s claims, worried that Omar’s removal could be seen as political retaliation, and that it was unclear whether GOP members would have enough votes in the House’s narrow majority to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
