AITA Women: Vidhi Jani advances to quarterfinals.

Vidhi Jani was leading 5-1 in the decider of the Rs.100,000 AITA women’s tennis tournament at Joygaon Academy on Tuesday when fifth seed Anjali Rathi was lucky to retire with a leg injury. Vidhi advanced to the quarterfinals with scores of 6-3, 4-6 and 1-5.

In the quarterfinals, Vidhi will face second seed Ria Uboveja, who has won just three games in the first two rounds.

Wheelchair National Championship in Indore

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has announced that the Wheelchair Tennis National Championship will be held in Indore from March 27 to 31.

The men’s event carries a prize of 2.5 lakh birr, while the women’s event carries a prize of 100,000 birr.

ITA General Secretary Anil Dhupar said in a statement released on Tuesday, “We are delighted to organize the first National Wheelchair Tennis Championship.”

ITF Men’s: Prajwal Dev Doubles Quarterfinals

SD Prajwal Dev teamed up with France’s Nathan Cite to reach the quarter-finals of the $15,000 ITF Men’s Tennis Tournament in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt on Tuesday, defeating Alei Golovachev and Savily Ivanov 6-3, 6-3.

Shooting

The National Rifle Association of India has announced the Indian Shooting Teams for the World Cup

Based on the results of the national championship and two trials, the top three shooters in the table were selected to compete in the World Cup competitions held in Doha and Cairo.

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has selected the next batch of best shooters for the World Cup to be held in Larnaca, Cyprus from March 25 to April 3.

As the World Cups did not offer any new Olympic quota places before the Paris Olympics, the national federation decided to develop a pool of shooters with international exposure as part of the national team.

Prithviraj Tondaiman, Shreyasi Singh, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Ganemat Sekhon will be the leading batsmen to compete in the two World Cups at the trap and draw.

The World Cup in Doha is scheduled to be held from March 4 to 13. The World Cup in Cairo will be held from April 25 to May 3.

Lakshay Sheoran, Manisha Khir, Angadvir Singh Bajwa and Areba Khan will be leading shooters in the World Cup from March 25 to April 3 in Larnaca, Cyprus.

The Karnataka State Football Association has announced the revival of the Stafford Challenge Cup

The Karnataka State Football Association on Tuesday announced the revival of the Stafford Challenge Trophy after a gap of 30 years.

The new leadership of the All India Football Federation is keen to revive the heritage tournaments and the Stafford Cup, which was first held in 1938 and is one of the most popular tournaments in India, will get a new lease of life.

The 16-team invitational will be held from February 23 at the Bangalore Football Stadium and the winner will receive a cash prize of ₹ 2.5 lakh, the runner-up ₹ 1.5 lakh and the two semi-finalists ₹ 50,000 each.

The main trophy was a silver trophy presented by the Staffordshire Regiment which was won by a club from Iraq in 1984 when it was claimed to have been destroyed in the armed conflict between Iran and Iraq.

Premier Volleyball League team Chennai Blitz unveils jersey and announces captain

Premier Volleyball League team Chennai Blitz unveiled their jersey and announced Naveen Raja Jacob as their captain for the upcoming season in Chennai on Tuesday.

“The most important thing is the team, besides any names. I think we are a family where everyone is important, but no one is more important than the other. That’s the idea. So far, we have worked as a family unit and I believe we are doing a good job of that,” said head coach Ruben Adrian. Volochin said when he opened the jersey.

Wolochin added that the upcoming season will be strong and he expressed the importance of the players being fit and mentally ready to play at any time.

The team’s owners Vikrant and Hanimi Reddy, CEO Kiran Kumar and CTO Tulasi Reddy were present with the team.
