The building’s official tagline reads “Fly Eagles Fly!” The image of the building is green and white.

For those who think this might be an elaborate troll job from the famous New York matchup, nope: The lights slated for Sunday are the colors of the teams that won the AFC and NFC championship games. That means anyone who turns up at the Chiefs-Bengal AFC Championship game will also have their colors on display.

Among those unhappy with the Empire State Building move were the Giants, one of the Eagles’ fiercest rivals and representatives of New York:

He paid tribute to the leaders after they beat Bengal for consistency.

The NFC champion’s gesture, however, angered many who felt it was a betrayal of ESB’s high standards.

After all, the Empire State Building should use its green and white lights for something.
