KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – The Kansas City Chiefs lost one of their top cornerbacks in the fourth game of the AFC Championship Game when L’Jarius Sneed went down to tackle Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perry and stayed on the turf Saturday night. .
Snead’s helmet and shoulder appeared to hit Perry’s knee as he stopped him for a 6-yard gain. Sneed lay motionless for a moment, then rolled onto his back and was seen by trainers before finally walking off the field.
Sneed was being evaluated for a head injury.
Sneed typically defends the opposite slot receiver, and Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo plans to cover him for dangerous Bengals passer Ja’Marr Chase most nights. His injury also means the Chiefs will rely on three starting cornerbacks — Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson and Josh Williams — for the rest of the game.
Sneed picked off three passes, forced three fumbles and also had 3 1/2 sacks this season.
