It’s rematch time in Kansas City as Joe Burroughs and the Cincinnati Bengals take on Patrick Mahomes. Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium for the second consecutive season.
The winner will reach the top Super Bowl LVII at Arizona (Feb. 12, 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App) Philadelphia EaglesIt took down San Francisco 49ers31-7, earlier in the NFC title game on FOX.
Here are the highlights!
Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs
Clark holds the burro
Frank Clark ended the Bengals’ opening drive when Burrow went down on third down for a 10-yard loss, forcing Cincinnati to punt.
Travis time
It is not known how much of an impact it will have. Travis Kelce He had to sit out Sunday’s game after suffering a back injury in practice on Friday. But it didn’t seem to bother him on Kansas City’s opening drive, but he was caught and scrambled for 16 yards on the Chiefs’ third play of the game.
Very difficult
Kadarius Tony came This close for a touchdown on the Chiefs’ opening drive. But he hit the ground, making it an incomplete pass and was unable to catch the catch.
Kansas City challenged the play, but the fielding call was upheld. The Chiefs were able to get three points on the drive when Harrison Butker connected on a 43-yard field goal on the next play.
Back pockets
The Bengals’ offensive line is already in trouble. After allowing a third-down sack on the first drive, the unit gave up sacks on back-to-back plays on the second drive.
Willie Gay came up with the second down to make it third and 18. Then Chiefs All-Star defensive back Chris Jones came up with a sack on the next play — his first sack of the postseason.
Trick!
The Chiefs were driving the ball down the field again in the second half of the game. Kelce caught another first-down as they drove into Bengals territory. But just after making the catch, Kelce threw the ball to Jerick McKinnon to his left. The throw wasn’t clean, but McKinnon fell on it to ensure Kansas City had possession.
Isiah Pacheco got into the end zone a few plays later, but the touchdown was off the board due to a holding penalty. So the Chiefs settled for three again, taking a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter.
It’s a party of four!
George Karlaftis helped the Bengals get their fourth sack on their first three drives of the game.
That hur(s)ts
Bengals tight end Hayden Hurst came very close to catching a touchdown on third down. Burrow’s pass in the end zone went through his hands and fell incomplete, forcing Cincy to go for three and make it a 6-3 game.
MVS in motion
Marcus Valdez-Scantling followed Mahomes’ pass the other way and hauled in a 29-yard catch to put the Chiefs deep into Bengals territory.
Travis TD
The Chiefs opted to go for it on fourth and short and the decision stood. Mahomes found Kelce 1-on-1 for his first touchdown of the game to make it 13-3 late in the first half after buying time on a scrimmage.
Bad pass burro
Burrow made a costly mistake in the first half when he loaded an intended receiver before the two-minute warning. Jaylen Watson was the beneficiary of the throw as the seventh-round rookie recorded an interception for the second straight game to put the Chiefs in Bengals territory.
