Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who served as ambassador to the United Nations under the previous administration of President Donald Trump, will join Trump in the 2024 race for the Republican presidential nomination.

News of Haley’s announcement was first reported by the Post & Courier newspaper in South Carolina.
Political analysts see Haley as a potential GOP presidential contender as she has criss-crossed the country with her political group Stand for America over the past two years, helping them run for re-election in 2022. Haley’s travels have brought her several times to Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, which span the first, second and fourth races on the Republican presidential nomination calendar. Haley’s home state of South Carolina polled third in the GOP primary schedule.

When asked by reporters last year about the White House race, Haley reiterated, “We’ll figure it out after November.” But you know what I said – I’ve never lost a race. I won’t start now. If there’s a spot for me, we’ll put 100% into it and get it done.

Haley raised her voice following the midterm remarks at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting, which served as the first major 2024 GOP presidential beef call.

Haley may not be the only South Carolina Republican to jump into the White House race. Senator Tim Scott is making moves leading up to the start of his presidential campaign.
Among the Republicans who have moved to launch bids are Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former two-term Govs. Larry Hogan of Maryland and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas. And among those running for the White House are Goves. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire and Kristi Nome of South Dakota, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and former Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Will Hurd of Texas.
