LeBron James continues to climb the NBA’s all-time leaderboard. No, that’s not a leaderboard.

James may be just days away from passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league’s leading scorer, but he’s nearing the top of the list for most assists in NBA history.

James had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 rebounds in a 129-123 overtime win over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. He passed Mark Jackson and Steve Nash for fourth among the league’s career assist leaders with 10,338.

He trails only leaders Chris Paul, Jason Kidd and John Stockton by a wide margin.

James has simultaneously shot to the top of two of the NBA’s most popular statistical lists, with each offensive possession scoring consistent and showing off his unique skills.

James, 38, entered Tuesday’s game averaging 27.2 points and 7.3 assists per game in his 20-year career. He now trails Abdul-Jabbar with only 89 points After increasing his total work to 38,299. At the age of 37, he is averaging 8.7 assists this season and sits nearly 900 shots away from Paul. James is 5,500 assists away from Stockton’s seemingly unbreakable record.
