Tre Lance trade rumors have been swirling ever since it was announced that the Tennessee Titans were hiring Ran Carton as their new general manager. Today there is another. The Athletic’s Mike Sando spoke with one NFL executive who expects the San Francisco 49ers to trade Lance to the Titans. From Sando’s text:
“I think they’re going to trade Trey Lance to Tennessee and then they’re going to end up with Brady and Brady’s going to play a year for the national team and they’re going to have Brock Purdy as a backup,” he predicted on Sunday.
Of course, the situation here has the 49ers signing Tom Brady this offseason. That’s the only way I see San Francisco willing to trade Lance this offseason. They left plenty of room to move in the 2021 NFL Draft to take Lance. If they traded him now, they would get him pennies on the dollar.
Whether or not the Titans should trade for Lance, to me that depends on what San Fran asks for in return. If they take him one day—if they pick him three, sure, why not? That seems like a fair price to determine if Lance is going to be a franchise QB.
What do you think if there is anything Carton should leave to Lance?
