‘Shock and pain:’ Husband of Duxbury mother charged in children’s deaths gives statement – Boston 25 News

Duxbury, Mass. – The husband of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury mother accused in her children’s death, is asking people to forgive her.

“I want to ask all of you to find it within you to forgive Lindsay as I saw her. The real Lindsay was a generous and caring person for everyone — me, our children, our family, her friends and her patients,” Patrick Clancy wrote in a statement Saturday on a GoFundMe page accepting donations for the family. “The very fiber of her soul is so loving. Now I wish for her to find peace somehow.”

Lindsey Clancy, 32, is charged with two counts of murder, three counts of strangulation or strangulation, and three counts of murder and battery with a deadly weapon, according to the arrest warrant. Emergency personnel responding to a 911 call found her three young children unconscious and suffering from trauma at the family’s home Tuesday night.

Her two older children, Cora Clancy, 5, and Dawson Clancy, 3, were pronounced dead at the hospital after being found inside the home. The district attorney’s office announced Friday that the couple’s third child, 8-month-old Callan Clancy, also died.

Lindsay Clancy is in police custody at a Boston hospital. In a statement on Saturday, her husband shared loving memories of his family and three children.

Patrick Clancy wrote, “My family was the best thing that ever happened to me.” I am so proud to be Lindsay’s husband and father to Cora, Dawson and Callan. I always remind myself that every day with them is a new gift.

“Callan was usually the first to wake up and rest his head on my shoulder for a few minutes as he adjusted to the morning,” wrote Patrick Clancy. “Dawson often sings or speaks his mind before we meet him. Cora was a big girl and went down easily. I vividly picture her walking into the living room every morning with her hair messy, with a smile on her face.

“We always start our day together, reading books, cuddling on the couch and playing with magnetic tiles,” the family says. At Chandler Elementary, I loved taking vacations, skiing, boating, or taking my favorite places on earth to Duxbury Beach. They gave me purpose and I didn’t take it for granted. Now there is a great void where that purpose used to be,” writes Patrick Clancy.

Police responded to 47 Summer St. around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday after Patrick Clancy arrived home and called 911 after his wife tried to kill herself. Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said Lindsay Clancy jumped from a second-story window.

On Saturday, Patrick Clancy shared personal details about his kids and how they raised his days.

“She had an infectious laugh and was incredibly cute,” says the eldest, 5-year-old Cora. She was the cautious one, but of course it was because she was very caring. She says she wants to be a doctor and mother when she grows up, and practices giving Callan checkups, writes Patrick Clancy.

His middle son, Dawson, 3, said, “He was handsome, brave, with brown eyes that sparkled with friendship. He was typical of the typical toddler, humorous and generous by nature, always willing to share his toys with others. For every love he received, he always gave more,” wrote Patrick Clancy.

And the baby, 8-month-old Kallan, “was our easy child. I always say it’s because he’s the third child – he had to adapt and he easily did. He was born with no fuss and was our best sleeper. He was an incredibly happy and active baby, constantly smiling,” wrote Patrick Clancy.

“Kalan died with great courage even though he was very young. It could be a way of showing me what I need to do to push forward. I always try to draw inspiration from him,” wrote Patrick Clancy. He will always be my little hero.

Patrick Clancy has shared intimate details about his wife and their relationship, including how it was “love at first sight” when they first met.

I want to share some thoughts about Lindsay. “She was recently painted by people who have never met her and don’t know who the real Lindsey is,” writes Patrick Clancy. “As her condition rapidly worsened, our marriage became wonderful and somewhat strained. I am proud to be a father, to be her husband, and to be constantly blessed to have her in my life. I still remember the moment I first laid eyes on her and how overcome I was by the kind of love at first sight that you only see in movies. It didn’t take long for me to be sure that I wanted to marry her.”

We said “I love you” several times every day, like a reflex. Each of us begins each morning with a passionate hug, giving relief as if receiving the perfect medicine, writes Patrick Clancy. “After a while, she looked at me and said, ‘Did you forget?’ She asks me. We mutually understood the fact that people could have bad days, but we maintained the rule that when one of us was lost, the other was always there to bring them home. She loved being a nurse, but nothing compared to her deep love for our children and dedication to being a mother. It was all she wanted. Her feelings have taught me to be a better father.”

The grieving father thanked the Duxbury community, first responders, religious leaders and health care workers who helped him and his family in recent days.

Patrick Clancy wrote, “I pledge all my energy to heal and discover my purpose.” To all of you, Duxbury Fire and Police, our compassionate healthcare workers, our local faith leaders, the Microsoft community, and especially Cora, Dawson and Callan. I don’t know how or when I will do it, but your love and generosity helped me get started. I know love always wins.

“Thank you all for your love and support,” wrote Patrick Clancy. “The warmth I’ve received from the community is palpable and your generosity gives me hope to focus on some kind of healing. I’ve seen all your messages and contributions, including those I haven’t seen in over a decade and don’t know much about. I’ve seen you all and thank you.

While an autopsy will determine the exact cause and manner of death, District Attorney Cruz said earlier this week that “it appears the children were suffocated first.”

Massachusetts General Hospital confirmed that Lindsay Clancy is an employee there. The hospital released a statement on Wednesday: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of this unimaginable tragedy.” We offer our deepest condolences to all those affected by these tragic events.

Cruz called the incident an “unthinkable senseless tragedy” and said it was not random. They also acknowledged the emergency workers who first saw the tragedy when they responded to the house.

“I’m sure a lot of them will never forget what they saw last night,” Cruz said Wednesday.

Hundreds attended an emotional candlelight vigil for mental health Thursday night at Holy Family Church in Duxbury.

Lindsay Clancy is expected to appear in court after being released from the hospital.

State troopers assigned to Cruz’s office are assisting Duxbury police with the homicide investigation.
