as if
A lot has changed in the three months since the November midterm elections:
Republicans won control of the US House and Democrats kept the Senate; Former President Donald Trump’s presidential bid and announcement of the special counsel’s investigation; Special Investigation for President Baiden; The voice of the GOP’s chaotic speaker – and more.
But our NBC News poll shows that something has fundamentally changed since the mid-point of the last survey.
In our November poll, President Joe Biden’s approval rating was 44%, with 53% disapproving among registered voters.
Now 46% approve, 50% disapprove among registered voters.
In November, 72% said the country was headed in the wrong direction.
Now 71% say this.
And in a more significant measure of the political climate, Democrats and Republicans were tied 47%-47% among registered voters in an NBC News congressional poll — the last election in which Republicans won the House (barely) and Democrats took control of the Senate.
right now? 47% prefer a GOP-controlled Congress, while 46% want Democrats in charge.
Hardly any change.
“The calendar may read 2023, but you’d be forgiven if someone continues to see 2022 in the outlook of the country and our politics,” said Hart Research Associates Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturf. Perception strategies.
